Best time to visit Scenic World
Scenic World, with over 140 km of walking trails and three exciting rides, occupies a massive area but can still get pretty crowded during certain times of the year — school holidays, Easter Long Weekend, Boxing Day - New Years Day and other public holidays. We’d recommend planning your visit keeping in mind the kind of experience you desire.
Peak season vs low season
- The high tourist season is usually during school holidays, which fall during April, July, September, and December. These months see the usual tourist rush, but also have a lot of locals dropping in. December, January and February, the Summer months, are also very popular with tourists because of the pleasant and warm weather.
- As March and April come, the rains start, making Scenic World slightly less crowded. The misty mountains are also a sight to behold, so many guests come in especially to enjoy those views. Scenic World essentially is an all-season attraction – if you want to avoid the crowds, try to avoid the school holidays and the peak Summer season.
Weekday vs weekend
- Being less than 2 hours away from Sydney, Scenic World is a great spot for day tours. Therefore, weekends are very crowded and the waiting time for rides may reach 30-60 mins. But the energy is also high during the weekend, especially because of families, kids and tourists.
- If you want to spend a more peaceful and quiet time, pick a midweek day, such as a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. It is also best to avoid Fridays and Mondays if you want to avoid the crowd, as many may like to extend the weekend.
