How do I get to Scenic World?

  • Train: It takes about 2 hr 40 min to get to Scenic World in the Blue Mountains from Sydney. Take a T9 train from Town Hall station to Strathfield station. After this, you can get the 686G bus from the Parke St opp Fire station stop and reach Kamilaroi Rd at Burrawang St bus stop. Walk a few minutes down to Scenic World from here.
  • Bus: You can get to Scenic World from Sydney in about 3 hr 25 min via bus. Take the N71 bus from Town Hall station, Park St, Stand H and reach Blacktown station, Stand D. Use the Blue Mountains train line to get to Blacktown station. Get the 686G bus from the Carrington Hotel, Katoomba St bus stop to Blue Mountains Tourist Park, Cliff Dr stop. Scenic World is a short walk from here. 
  • Car: The drive to Scenic World takes about 1 hr 21 min from Sydney CBD. You can come via M4 and Great Western Hwy/A32. Then take Parke St/Yeaman Bridge Rd in Katoomba. Follow Cascade St and then Neale St to reach Scenic World via Cliff Dr.

Best time to visit Scenic World

The best time to visit Scenic World is during the Summer months because the weather is warm, sunny and dry. The skies are also clear and the visibility is high. However, it is also the time when there are a huge number of visitors, especially during the school holidays in December. Other rush periods are school holidays in April, July and September, Easter Long Weekend, Boxing Day - New Years Day and other public holidays. Try to reach the park early in the morning to avoid peak traffic. 

If you want to visit when the crowds are comparatively low, you should pick early March, May and June. These months do not fall under the school holidays and it is rainy, which brings about a beautiful transformation in Scenic World, considering it is a part of the Jamison Valley rainforest. You can still enjoy all the rides while experiencing misty views and a rainforest thriving with flora and fauna.

  • Food and refreshments: Scenic World has 2 food spots inside —  Terrace Café & Bar and EATS270 restaurant. There are also picnic areas and you can bring your own food.
  • Lockers: Lockers are available in L1 of the Main Building at Scenic World.
  • Baby changing facilities: If you’re travelling with young ones, there are baby changing facilities available at both male and female toilets.
  • Toilet: Scenic World has toilets on the premises.
  • Gift Shop: At the gift shop in Scenic World, Blue Mountains, you can buy memorabilia and other knick-knacks. You can also get umbrellas and ponchos in case it rains.

  • Wheelchair access: The Main Building entrance has automatic entrance doors, so it is fully accessible by guests who use wheelchairs.
  • Access parking: Parking spots for those with disabilities can be found immediately opposite the main entry.
  • Accessible toilets: The access toilets can be found on L1 and L3 of the Main Building. There are also additional access cubicles inside the public bathrooms near the disabled parking outside the gate.
  • Assistance animals: The Scenic Skyway & Cableway allows assistance animals inside. However, you must talk to the team regarding individual circumstances before getting on the Scenic Railway with an assistance animal, for safety reasons.
  • Companion concession: Registered caregivers who are accompanying those with special needs can enter Scenic World without any charge.

  • Wear loose and comfortable clothes. Smart casuals and athleisure are good options. If you’re visiting multiple places, you can also avail the locker room and change into tracks just for the activities.
  • Wear plenty of sunscreen and carry a hat, if possible. Make sure that you also have plenty of water with you.
  • During the rainy season, you may want to wear waterproof or easy-wick clothes and carry an umbrella or a rain poncho.
  • Wear covered and comfortable shoes like sneakers and sport shoes. There is heavy walking involved so avoid heels.

  • Children: Small children and infants must be carried by their guardians during the Scenic Railway, Skyway or Cableway rides. Baby seats are unavailable. Under-14s should also be accompanied by an adult.

  • Access guests: The Scenic Railway and parts of the Scenic Walkway cannot accommodate guests who use wheelchairs.
  • Service animals: Service animals must always be harnessed or on a leash when inside Scenic World. They are not to be carried.
  • Closing hours: At Scenic World, the 30 minute and the 50-minute boardwalks are closed off about an hour before the attraction closes.

Yes, prams are allowed inside Scenic World in the Blue Mountains and inside most rides. However, pram use is restricted on the Scenic Railway and parts of the boardwalk. You can park your pram at L1 of the Main Building.

You can ride the Scenic Cableway and Scenic Skyway with your mobility aid and also use a 380-metre section of the Scenic Walkway. However, the Scenic Railway cannot accommodate mobility aids and some parts of the Walkway also have a steep incline and stairs.
